Mark D. Morelli
President and Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Morelli is the President and Chief Executive Officer of ECD. Prior to joining ECD, he served as a senior executive with United Technologies Corporation. During a 15-year career he held progressive executive leadership positions, including international assignments, with a proven track record of improving profitability, leading team-building and reorganization efforts, and integrating businesses on a global scale. His customer and strategic business experience includes developing and marketing building-integrated products. From 2006 to 2007, Mr. Morelli was President of the Carrier Commercial Refrigeration business, a division of Carrier Corporation.
Joe Conroy
Vice President of Operations
Mr. Conroy has more than 13 years of experience in executive leadership positions with American Axle & Manufacturing, Inc. and more than 8 years of progressive manufacturing leadership roles with General Motors. Mr. Conroy holds a B.S.M.E. from General Motors Institute (GMI) now known as Kettering University and an MBA from Wayne State University.
Michael A. Fetcenko
Vice President Ovonic Materials
Mr. Fetcenko is a world respected expert in the field of Nickel Metal Hydride batteries and has been responsible for over 55 patents, 70 publications and author of textbook chapters on NiMH batteries. He joined ECD in 1980 and was one of the founding members of Ovonic Battery Company (OBC) where he rose to the position of Senior Vice-president and Director of Technology. Mr. Fetcenko has also played the pivotal role in the enforcement and licensing of the company’s intellectual property and was responsible for technical and business-related interactions with OBC’s licensees. As the head of the Ovonic Materials Division, Mr. Fetcenko leads the operations and strategic planning and drives commercialization of our diverse ECD technologies including biofuel reformation, fuel cell, hydrogen storage and information technology while continuing to grow our Ovonic NiMH battery business.
Subhendu Guha, Ph.D.
Senior Vice President
Chairman, United Solar Ovonic
Dr. Subhendu Guha is a world-renowned authority in photovoltaic technology, with many years of experience in the development and manufacture of solar panels. He serves in many national and international photovoltaic committees, including the Advisory Board of National Center for Photovoltaic — the body responsible for directing and implementing the U.S. Department of Energy's strategy in photovoltaic. His work has received recognition from the U.S. Department of Energy, Bright Lights Award, and the Discovery Magazine, Environment Category.
Dr. Guha has a Ph.D. in Electronics. Before joining United Solar Ovonic in 1990, he served as Vice President of Photovoltaics and Information at ECD Ovonics.
Jay B. Knoll
Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer

Mr. Jay Knoll is Vice President and General Counsel of Energy Conversion Devices, Inc. (ECD Ovonics). Prior to joining ECD Ovonics in 2006, Mr. Knoll was Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of Collins & Aikman Corporation. Mr. Knoll has held positions at Lear Corporation, Covisint LLC, Visteon Corporation, and Detroit Diesel Corporation.
Mr. Knoll holds a B.A. degree from the University of Michigan and has a J.D. degree from the Wayne State University School of Law.
Art Rogers
Vice President of HR and Administration
Mr. Rogers has more than 30 years of experience in Human Resources and developing and executing organizational strategy. He has held senior positions in a variety of industries and his strength and background is in global HR. Mr. Rogers has diverse experience managing all aspects of people management.
Marcelino Susas
Vice President Strategic Marketing
Mr. Susas is Vice President of Strategic Marketing at ECD. Prior to joining ECD in October 2007, Mr. Susas served as an executive at CertainTeed Corporation, a subsidiary of Saint-Gobain. At CertainTeed he held positions in General Management and Business Development. He also brings over a decade of energy experience including beginning his career at a Northeast utility (PSE&G), consulting at McKinsey & Company primarily in their energy practice and leading business development and strategy at United Technologies Fuel Cells.
Mr. Susas holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and has an MBA from the New York University's Stern Graduate School of Business.
Tom Toner
Vice President Systems Engineering
Mr. Toner is Vice President of Systems Engineering at ECD. He has extensive experience in complex product development and global operations and brings best practices honed from his work in both the semi-conductor and solar equipment industries. Prior to joining ECD in May of 2008, Mr. Toner served as Senior Director of Operations for Varian Semiconductor Equipment Associates where he was responsible for operations strategy and new product development. Previously, he held leadership roles in both engineering and operations at Applied Materials and United Technologies Corporation where he consistently delivered outstanding business results in high technology industries.
Mr. Toner holds his M.S. in Engineering and Management from MIT and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Virginia.
Corby C. Whitaker
Vice President Global Sales
Mr. Whitaker's broad and extensive sales and marketing leadership experience in the building, energy and engineered products industries ideally position him leading the global sales organization. Prior to joining ECD, Mr. Whitaker served as Director of Sales with Johns Manville’s Corporation. During his career he held senior sales, marketing, and service leadership positions with a proven track record building effective teams, developing and executing on go-to-market strategies that have lead to profitable growth in multiple businesses and business models.
Mr. Whitaker holds a B.S.M.E. from Texas A&M University.
Harry W. Zike
Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Zike is the Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of ECD. Prior to joining ECD, Mr. Zike served 18 years with Siemens Corporation in various executive and international financial positions, including CFO of the Americas Region of two of Siemens largest operating divisions (Automotive & Power Generation). Mr. Zike also served 13 years with Price Waterhouse in their audit, advisory and M & A practices.
Mr. Zike holds a B.S. degree in Accounting from the University of Scranton. He is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Management Accountant, a Certified Information Technology Professional and a Certified Six Sigma Green Belt. He is bilingual and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Babcock Power, Inc. and the Detroit Chapter of Financial Executives International.
